SIDNEY- Another Sidney-based business has a new home.

Best Plumbing, Heating and Cooling celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in Sidney on Thursday. The new space along Illinois Street will allow the company to better distribute supplies to each of its stores and technicians with the addition of a new warehouse.

"It triples our warehousing capability," general manager Jack Harris said. "It used to take, especially for emergency situations, like setting up a temporary heater somewhere because someone's went down in the middle of Winter, that used to take two to three days to get equipment. Now we warehouse most of it here and it's next day. It's really improved our response times. It's been amazing."

Harris says the new space will also allow the company to expand their apprenticeship program into a full fledged academy for training people in the field.

Best Plumbing, Heating and Cooling owner Vaughn Russell says there's always some nerves when taking a big step like this. 

"I'm a little nervous, having the community come through," Russell said. "But it's great for them to see all the hard work we've put into this."

Best Plumbing, Heating and Cooling has locations in seven towns across the Panhandle. Russell says the new, expanded main building was needed to support those stores. 

"It allows us to have a little more room to function like a business should," Russell said. "Our old location, we were just arm-to-arm there."
