Overturned semi trailer fire causes delays on I-80 near Sidney Monday

SIDNEY, NE - A morning semi trailer fire caused traffic to move slow on Interstate 80 near Sidney Monday.
The overturned semi trailer near Exit 55 just west of Sidney forced one lane of I-80 westbound to be closed.
Photos sent in by a viewer, which can be seen above, show the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department battling the flames Monday morning.
At one point, traffic was backed up for miles as crews worked to remove debris from the roadway.
Many drivers got off the Interstate at Exit 59, and took Highway 19 to Exit 55 to reenter the interstate.
According to Nebraska 511, both lanes have since reopened as of 11:00 a.m. MDT. NDOT cameras show crews are no longer working at the scene after removing the wreck from the lanes of traffic. The trailer is still in the area, so drivers should use caution when driving through the area.
This is a developing story. We will continue to pass details along as we learn more.
