Bellevue Firefighters fight fatal blaze
Use of smoking material, the suspected cause of the fire
BEATRICE – A house fire in Bellevue claimed the life of the home’s occupant. The Nebraska Fire Marshal’s office reports Bellevue firefighters responded to a report of a house fire early Saturday morning, at 7402 South 53rd in Omaha.
Fire personnel said the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, and the occupant was found dead at the scene. Firefighters were sent to the scene at around 4:18 a.m.
The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of relatives. The Sarpy County Attorney has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
State Fire Marshal investigators, Bellevue Police and Sarpy County Sheriff’s officers have determined that the fire was caused by smoking materials.
