FREMONT, Neb. -A 16th Nebraska city has passed a mask mandate, with Fremont enacting the latest measure on Friday.

The Fremont Board of Health passed the ordinance requiring people five years and older to wear a face covering over the mouth and nose while indoors in premises open to the general public.

People who violate the order would be subject to a misdemeanor for each offense.

Some exceptions are in place, including people seeking medical, federal, state or county services. There are also exceptions for medical conditions and disabilities, along with sitting at a bar or restaurant while consuming food or drinks.

The order goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and will continue through 11:59 p.m. on January 31 unless renewed, extended or terminated by a subsequent order.
