Peru State Cross Country Snags its first 2021 Signee
(Peru, Neb.) – Peru State men's cross country coach James Cole recently announced the signing of Andrew (AJ) Russell from Alma High School. Russell is Cole's first signee for the 2021 fall season.
Russell, the son of ReDonna and Patrick Russell, will graduate this spring from Alma. In addition to participating in cross country at Alma, Russell has also played basketball and run track. He has earned Nebraska School Activities Association Academic All-State three times for cross country and once each for basketball and track. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
Cole commented, "AJ is a great addition to the team. He is a good student and keeps up with his grades while competing in multiple sports for Alma High School. I've enjoyed meeting his parents and visiting his school for the signing. They are all excited for him and I'm looking forward to being able to work with him."
Russell plans to major in elementary education while at Peru State while minoring in physical education.
