Scottsbluff schools begin search for new superintendent

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Scottsbluff Public Schools begin phase one in their search for a new school superintendent. They retained the services of Nebraska Association of Schools Board (NASB) to help them in their search.
“The first phase will be the board working out those details as far as timeline and getting some of the advertisement and the NASB will get to work,” says Melissa Price Director of Communications Scottsbluff Public Schools. “They do some personal recruiting as far as to try to let qualified candidates know that they’re interested.”
Scottsbluff Public Schools says NASB helped Gering Public Schools find their new school superintendent Dr. Nicole Regan.
“We’re going to be asking the community what they’re looking for,” says Price. “The community should kind of keep their eyes out we’re probably going to have a survey and conduct some focus groups and have some visits and do some things so that everyone gets a chance to kind of weigh in on what qualities are important.”
“And a few years ago they got into the business of also doing school superintendent searches and in fact they were retained and we did the search for what turned out to be Mr. Myles and did an excellent job in my opinion,” says Bob Kinsey President of the Board Scottsbluff Public Schools.
“One thing that we’ve been very fortunate in our last two superintendents is they had vast experiences and this was going to be their last job,” says Kinsey. “I think that was great to our advantage point is that we had tenured professionals that had lots of experience and not quite frankly somebody looking for the next notch in their career.”
