SIDNEY, NE — A Sidney man who was the focus of an investigation after a video was posted online confronting him of the alleged crime has had charges added to his case.

45-year-old Jamie Daniels now faces six counts of possession of child pornography. This is in addition to the attempted sexual assault charge he was already facing. All the charges are felonies.

The new charges were added in a complaint filed Thursday in Cheyenne County. According to court documents, authorities found explicit images on Daniels' cell phone.

Daniels was originally arrested in December after a Texas-based group who call themselves "Predator Poachers" posted a video on YouTube confronting Daniels and accusing him of messaging a member of the group who was posing as an underage girl.

Daniels was taken into custody after the group presented evidence of the messages to local authorities. He was released shortly after because charges were originally declined by county attorney Paul Schaub.

Schaub said at the time charges were declined because the person posing as a minor was not a law enforcement officer. Under state statute, the victim must be under 16 or an officer posing as a minor if electronic devices are being used for the charge to apply.

An investigation was then launched into the matter and Daniels was arrested once again on Dec. 9, and charged.

His next court appearance is set for Friday, Jan. 22.
