SIDNEY, NE — A Sidney man facing multiple felonies after an investigation spurred by a vigilante group has once again had more charges added to his case.

Jamie Daniels is now faced with four more counts of possession of child pornography, according to a complaint filed Thursday in Cheyenne County court. Court documents say authorities found explicit images while looking through Daniels' social media accounts.

This is the second time the charges against Daniels have been amended. He was originally charged only with attempt of a Class I felony in December, which has also been labeled as attempted first degree sexual assault of a child on court documents pertaining to the case. Then in the first amended complaint, authorities added six counts of possession of child pornography to the case. According to court documents, authorities added the charges after finding explicit images on Daniels' cell phone.

This means Daniels now faces 10 counts of possession along with the original charge of attempt of a Class I felony. At a court hearing Friday, authorities made the decision to bind the case over to district court.

The case began in late November when a vigilante group from Texas, who call themselves predator poachers, confronted Daniels and claimed he had sent explicit messages to a member of their group who was posing as a minor online. The group posted a video of the confrontation to their YouTube channel and provided evidence of the messages to local authorities. After arresting then releasing Daniels due to charges initially being declined, authorities launched an official investigation and took Daniels back into custody in early December.

Daniels is scheduled to be arraigned in district court on Feb. 3.
