U.S. Attorney accuses Crete man of enticing a minor
OMAHA, NE — A Crete man is facing federal charges after authorities say he attempted to meet a minor to have sex.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that it charged 27-year-old David Cantu with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
Court documents say Cantu contacted an undercover deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in October. The deputy was posing as a 15-year-old in an online ad on a prostitution website. Documents say Cantu texted with the deputy through mid-January and agreed to meet up to pay for sex. Police arrested Cantu when he arrived at the meet up site.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $250,000 fine. Cantu is also known as Eswin Lopez.
