LINCOLN, Neb. -- Just months after a move to legalize medical marijuana in Nebraska came up short, there's a new push to jump all the way to legalized recreational use of pot.

A public hearing is scheduled for Friday on a constitutional amendment proposed by Sen. Justin Wayne of Omaha. The proposed amendment would make the recreational use of marijuana legal for anyone 21-years of age and older.

Last fall the Nebraska Supreme Court effectively threw out 123,000 petition signatures calling for a vote of the people to legalize medical marijuana.

The high court ruled the language on the petition didn't pass legal muster.

The Nebraska GOP is already asking people to tell state lawmakers that legalizing pot is a bad idea.
