Scottsbluff advances to girls state basketball tournament

The Scottsbluff girls basketball team heading back to the Class B State Girls Tournament in Lincoln.

The Scottsbluff girls basketball team celebrates their district championship after beating Elkhorn, 49-37, on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021. The Bearcats advance to the NSAA State Basketball Championships in Lincoln, March 4-7.

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scottsbluff girls basketball team heading back to the Class B State Girls Tournament in Lincoln. Lady Bearcats punched their tickets into the Class B field with a 49-37 win over Elkhorn on Saturday. Scottsbluff used strong defense and timely scoring to lead most of the contest only trailing a couple minutes in the second quarter.

The wins sends Scottsbluff to the state tournament for the second straight year. Last season the ladies advanced all the way to the state semi-finals before coming up short to Beatrice.
