Nebraska's governor has named an official day to eat meat.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis declared March 20 "MeatOut Day" to promote vegetarianism.

In response, Gov. Pete Ricketts has declared March 20 "Meat Is On the Menu Day."

He hopes this designation will promote meat and awareness of its importance to both diets and Nebraska's economy.

Ricketts stated "MeatOut Day" was driven by "radical activists."

Ricketts made the declaration official on Monday, signing a proclamation at Frank Stoysich Meats in Omaha.
