CHEYENNE, WY — People staying in hotels hoping to travel west along Interstate 80 in Nebraska may have to wait awhile before hitting the road.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is currently estimating I-80 will reopen in their state between 10:00 p.m. Tuesday and 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.

The news comes as crews with WYDOT work to clear the interstate where it has been reported there are some drifts as deep as six feet.

I-80 remains at least partially closed across all of Wyoming. The interstate is completely shut down from the Nebraska border to Rawlins, the area of the state that got hit hardest by the blizzard.

While WYDOT digs out I-80, trucks stops and hotels in Nebraska continue to fill up, further pushing closures of the westbound lanes to the east. As of 5:00 p.m. MDT Monday, I-80 westbound from Grand Island to the Wyoming border remains closed. The eastbound lanes are open beginning at Big Springs, Neb.

Highway 30 in Nebraska is open to local traffic only.

In the Nebraska Panhandle, Highway 71 from Colorado to Gering, Highway 88 from Bridgeport to Wyoming, Route 92 from Scottsbluff to Wyoming and Highway 29 from Mitchell to Harrison are closed as of 5:00 p.m. MDT Monday.
