OMAHA, Neb. -- Douglas County Health Director Dr. Adi Pour is retiring.

The director of the largest health department in the state of Nebraska made the announcement at Wednesday's Board of Health meeting. A nationwide search for her replacement was also announced.

Dr. Pour has been a vocal advocate for the city of Omaha's mask mandate and has been one of the leaders in the community in the fight against the pandemic.

Originally from Switzerland, she has led the health department since 2002. She will step down at the end of June.
