SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The Chadron Airport gets federal funding through the Corona Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.
City officials said $13,000 dollars goes to the airport and they can use it as they wish. One plan is to use money for engineering costs for a new security fence and another for employee wages. The current fence is not functioning properly and a new fence would keep animals out.
“That’s the type of structure they will put in there and it’s a little more secure to keep the wildlife off the airport,” said Milo Rust Chadron Interim City Manager. “That in itself protects them from having a strike with a deer or coyote or anything like that. We have to watch that every time every flight comes in and we want to make sure those runways are clear and free of any obstruction.”
