SIDNEY - Flood Communications, owner of KSID, will make an announcement about the future of the Sidney radio station on Wednesday morning.

The Nebraska-based media company acquired KSID-FM and KSID-AM from Susan Ernest and Dead-Short Broadcasting in October 2019 to launch their western Nebraska news bureau. They began operations in January 2020, hiring three new full-time employees and two part-time employees.

Last September, Flood Communications announced they would be leaving their current location in Legion Park to move the radio station to a new space in downtown Sidney. Construction and remodeling of the building at 836 10th Ave. finished in April and the company is operating out of their new business front in Hickory St. Square.

A new sign and awning were installed earlier this year by Andersen Sign Company.

The building in Legion Park was built close to the AM tower when KSID hit the air in 1952. It was originally a half-mile out of town until Sidney began to expand.

Wednesday's announcement will take place at 9 a.m. on 98.7 FM, 1340 AM and 95.7 FM. It can also be heard on newschannelnebraska.com and the NCN app. KSID will broadcast the announcement via video on the Facebook page

Flood Communications operates 10 radio stations and seven television stations.  The company owns News Channel Nebraska, the only in-state, independent television network of its kind in the country. Flood Communications founder Mike Flood currently serves on the state legislature.
