Gage County law officers arrest sex offender in search of Beatrice home
BEATRICE – Gage County Sheriff’s officers executing a search warrant arrested a 55-year-old man Thursday morning, for an alleged Sex Offender Registration Act violation.
Law officers served the warrant in the two-hundred block of Bell Street in Beatrice, at about 8:15 a.m. They arrested Dusty Gene Mayhew for residing or staying at an address he had not reported to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received information from a Nebraska State Probation officer in mid-April that Mayhew, a registered sex offender was staying at the Bell Street residence and driving a vehicle he had not reported to the registry.
County law officers worked with the Nebraska State Patrol and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, among others, in the investigation.
During Thursday’s search, Mayhew and his personal belongings were located in the home. He was arrested for two violations of the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry Act.
Mayhew is subject to a lifetime registration requirement for an April, 2008 Gage County conviction for attempted second-degree sexual assault. According to the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, he had previously reported a Blue Springs address as his residence.
