NORFOLK, Neb. -- A 21-year-old Norfolk man is facing numerous drug charges after a Tuesday traffic stop.

At 4:15 p.m., a Norfolk Police officer saw Martrail Edwards driving a vehicle near 1st Street and Park Avenue. The officer said they knew that Edwards's driver’s license had been recently revoked.

The officer caught up to the car and noticed that it had expired licenses plates. The officer then initiated a traffic stop and had contact with Edwards who was in the
driver’s seat. During this contact, the officer said they detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.

Edwards was placed under arrest for driving during revocation. In a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers said they located numerous items of drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale.

According to police reports, officers located a bag containing psilocybin mushrooms inside the center console of the vehicle.

Edwards was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail
