Big Springs without power after accident on Interstate 80
BIG SPRINGS, NE — A village in the panhandle is without power early Wednesday afternoon after an accident on the interstate.
Officials with the village of Big Springs tell News Channel Nebraska say the entire village is effected by the outage. NPPD spokesman Mark Becker says a semi-truck sideswiped a power pole, knocking down two poles near the Big Springs exit on I-80. He says repairs are underway.
According to NPPD's outage map, 546 people were without power as of 2 p.m. MT. The estimated time for it being restored is 3 p.m. MT. Wednesday.
Big Springs officials are also asking residents to restrict any unnecessary water usage until 4 p.m. MT Wednesday.
Drivers on the interstate near Big Springs are asked to slow down and use caution as repairs are made.
