ANGORA - 17 area fire departments contained a grass fire near Angora on Tuesday.

According to the Bayard Volunteer Fire Department, the blaze moved swiftly and burned an estimated 6,000 acres. 80 volunteer firefighters with 45 emergency response vehicles responded to the fire. 

More information on the fire is expected on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Ogallala, Keystone, Brule and Big Springs Volunteer Fire Departments were called to a grass fire impacting structures in rural Keith County on Sunday.

Grant, Paxton, Sutherland and Hershey fire departments were also paged to the scene. 

Fire fighters were able to hold the blaze to just a few acres. No injuries were reported.
