OMAHA, Neb. -- In the wake of a summer storm that left 188,000 without power, the Omaha Public Power District is promising to do better in the future.
According to OPPD, it has identified several areas for improvement.
Those include the possibility of burying more power lines in Omaha’s older neighborhoods, more tree trimming, replacing worn or aging cables, and replacing utility poles sooner than later.
The company says it is a learning organization and will continue to adapt and improve.
Of those 188,000 who lost power July 10th, OPPD says 120,000 had the lights back on day-one. Some were without electricity for almost six days.
