NPD: Woman evades police on bike, arrested on meth-related charges

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A 36-year-old Norfolk woman is in custody facing charges involving potential methamphetamine.
Just before 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, a Norfolk Police officer reported seeing Lindy R. Rath riding a bike near 5th Street and Verges Avenue. The officer recognized the Rath as a suspect in a case he was investigating.
Officers attempted to get Rath to stop but she reportedly refused and continued to evade the officers. Officers noted seeing Rath discard a small plastic baggie into a spruce tree as she rode past it.
Eventually, a press release states, officers caught up to Rath and she stopped for them.
A check of Rath's history showed an active Madison County arrest warrant for driving under suspension. She was taken into custody. Officers recovered the baggie that was reportedly discarded, in addition to a glass pipe that was next to the baggie. Both tested positive for methamphetamine.
Rath was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and obstructing a police officer. She was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
