UHC, NCN taking nominations for SmallTowns Matter giveaway
OMAHA, Neb. -- UnitedHealthcare and News Channel Nebraska are teaming up once again to support small towns, and one school in particular.
Registration is open for the Small Towns Matter giveaway, which allows for one Nebraska school to receive a $2,500 grant and bicycle helmets for every students at the school.
"We look forward to it because we want students to be active," said Matthew Milam, Executive Director of UnitedHealthcare of Nebraska. "It's a way for us to give back, not only to them, but to the community because we know schools are struggling financially, and it's just a way to give back to them and the students."
Several schools across all different regions of the state have won the top prize, bringing home important funds to support the schools, along with bike helmets to promote physical activity. The winning schools have used the grant funding for various purposes, including new playground equipment.
"Being healthy and being active is very important to their overall health as they grow older," Milam said. "These are going to be the future leaders of Nebraska, so we definitely want to participate in that."
Anyone can nominate their local school and community by visiting the Small Towns Matter website and submitting an entry application. Registration ends Sept. 30.
