OGALLALA - The 7-0 Sidney Red Raiders traveled to Ogallala Friday to face off against the 5-2 Ogallala Indians, with the C1-7 District title hanging in the balance. The Indians dominated the time of possession, holding the ball for a staggering 19 minutes longer than Sidney and running 33 more plays. Despite this, the game came down to a final drive that ended with Ogallala holding on for a 22-15 win.

At halftime, the game was knotted up at 8-8. Sidney received the second-half kickoff but struggled to move the ball and went three-and-out, resulting in a punt. Unfortunately for Sidney, they wouldn't regain possession until the fourth quarter. Ogallala executed a remarkable 21-play scoring drive that chewed up an impressive 11 minutes and 18 seconds, propelling them into the lead at 14-8.

Sidney didn’t back down, responding with a swift six-play drive that culminated in a 52-yard touchdown pass from Isak Doty to Luke Holly, putting them back on top at 15-14 with 9:43 left to play.

Ogallala, as they did all night, orchestrated a methodical 6 minute and 33 second scoring drive that covered 66 yards, regaining the lead at 22-15 after a successful 2-point conversion.

Sidney made a valiant last-ditch effort, marching 40 yards in just six plays. However, their undefeated season came to an end when Ogallala intercepted a pass at the Indian 11-yard line, effectively ending the threat with 1 minute and 26 seconds remaining in the game.

Ogallala finished the game with 347 yards of total offense. Caden Rezac was a standout, rushing for 160 yards on 23 carries, while Harry Caskey shouldered the ball 31 times for 149 yards.

Sidney was held to 223 yards of total offense. Isak Doty contributed 86 yards on 13 carries, and Luke Holly rushed for 59 yards on 9 carries, including a touchdown. Doty also completed 7 of 12 passes for 91 yards and one touchdown.

Sidney returns home next Friday when they host Alliance in the regular season finale. Kick off at Weymouth Field is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
