Norfolk upsets Class B #9 South Sioux City
NORFOLK - The Norfolk girls' basketball team upset state-ranked South Sioux City on Saturday, 51-43.
The Panther defense held the Cardinals in check, holding them to just 10 points in the first half.
But South Sioux City opened things up in the second half, with 26 points in the third quarter alone.
But the Cardinals never found their rhythm fully, missing multiple lay-ups, and shooting just 24 percent from the field.
That allowed Norfolk to overcome 26 turnovers and pull away in the fourth quarter.
The was remarkably physical, with five players fouling out.
The Panthers have now won three in a row for the first time since February of 2022. They've already eclipsed their win total from last year.
