Investigation of violation of protection order leads to chase along I-80 ending in Sutherland
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Greater Nebraska law enforcement investigating a felony protection order violation on Tuesday led to a pursuit on Interstate 80 that ended in Sutherland.
According to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, late Tuesday evening, officers with the North Platte Police Department were investigating a felony protection order violation against Jordan Boham.
Officers located Boham’s vehicle leaving the Flying J Truck Stop in North Platte near the I-80 179 exit. Law enforcement attempted to stop Boham in his 2019 Ford Fusion, but he refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated on Interstate 80.
Officers abandoned the pursuit west of North Platte and issued a BOLO for the vehicle. Shortly after, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy located the vehicle near the Hershey Interchange along I-80 and attempted to stop the vehicle, prompting another pursuit. Officers were advised by dispatch that Boham had talked to his mother on the phone and informed her that he had a gun and intended to kill himself and law enforcement.
Boham exited I-80 at Sutherland and continued to his home address, where Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and Nebraska State Patrol troopers gave Boham commands to exit his vehicle. When he refused, law enforcement began extensive negations which eventually failed. Officers were forced to approach the vehicle and forcibly remote Boham from the vehicle.
Upon removing Boham from his vehicle, law enforcement noticed that he had used a large knife to stab himself and rendered aid until Sutherland Rescue arrived and transported Boham to Great Plains Health in North Platte, where he remained as of late Wednesday morning.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has reported that they have filed a report with the Lincoln County Attorney and an arrest warrant is anticipated.
