LINCOLN, Neb. — The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller boys basketball team overcame a slow start to take down Walthill 70-49 in the state quarterfinals.

The #6 Mustangs fell behind 10-2 after an early onslaught by the #3 Bluejays but fought back to make it a one-point deficit at the end of the first quarter. S-E-M took the lead in the second quarter and never looked back on the way to a comfortable win.

S-E-M scored a season-high 70 points and held Walthill to just five points in the fourth quarter.

The victory puts the Mustangs in the Class D-2 semifinals for the second season in a row. They will play #2 Maywood/Hayes Center on Friday at 7:45 p.m.
