HALL COUNTY, Neb. -- The Grand Island woman accused of defrauding people over headstone purchases is asking for her trial to be relocated.
According to court documents, Kelli Lepler’s lawyer filed a motion on Tuesday asking the court to move her trial somewhere else.
Her attorney argues that a fair and impartial trial cannot be held in Hall County due to pretrial publicity that could make a jury prejudiced against her.
Lepler is accused of taking payments for headstones and not delivering them. She now faces 45 counts of theft by deception. Lepler has pleaded not guilty.
