Lincoln East Baseball run-rules Grand Island to repeat as HAC Tournament Champions
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Class A #1 Lincoln East Spartans had no trouble beating the Grand Island Islanders in their 10-0 victory Thursday night in Lincoln.
To get to the championship game, Lincoln East (16-1) beat Kearney 8-3 and Grand Island (10-5) beat Lincoln Southwest 6-2 earlier in the day.
Thursday's contest was a rematch of a game on March 29, where Lincoln East beat Grand Island 9-7.
East came out strong in the second inning as Owen Laessig singled to score a run that gave East the 1-0 lead.
East led 4-0 after the fourth inning thanks to timely hitting and three early Grand Island errors.
Carter Mick shut down the Grand Island offense as he pitched five scoreless innings only allowing one hit while striking out six.
Carter Harmes put the game out of reach with a 2-run home run in the 5th inning, and East walked it off on a walk-off walk by Hudson Morrow to win 10-0 in 6 innings.
The Spartans are HAC Tournament champions for the second consecutive year.
East scored 10 runs on 9 hits.
Grand Island scored 0 runs on 2 hits, and 4 errors.
