Hastings cruises past Fairbury in final regular season home game
HASTINGS Neb. – The Hastings Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning and had no problem keeping up the pace in a 15-2 run-rule win over the Fairbury Jeffs Saturday afternoon.
Carlos Jimenez opened the scoring in the 1st inning with an RBI single to right field, part of the seven-run frame.
Hastings put up six runs in the 3rd inning to take a double-digit lead.
Jimenez also started on the mound, and pitched three perfect innings. He got the win going four innings, and only allowing two hits and two runs, while striking out four Jeffs.
Fairbury finally broke up the perfect game in the 4th inning with a wild pitch strikeout, and a single by Miles Tatro. They scored their lone two runs on an RBI groundout by Blayne Schelbitzki, and a single by Jakolbe Atkins.
Hastings improves to 8-12 and plays their final regular season game on the road at Crete on Monday.
Fairbury falls to 4-13, and has their district game against Platteview on Thursday.
Hastings recorded 15 runs, 7 hits, and no errors.
Fairbury recorded 2 runs, 2 hits, and four errors.
