RUSHVILLE, Neb. - Firefighters in the Gordon-Rushville area are battling two fires amidst very high fire danger conditions. One of the fires is located north of Rushville, approximately one mile south of Hands of Faith, according to Gordon Fire Chief Rich Haller. Haller said that they received a mutual aid call to help and have sent a couple of grass rigs and a tanker to the scene.

“They’re really battling the strong wind, while trying to keep the fire out of the timber,” Haller said.

In addition to the wildfire, Gordon firefighters are also on the scene of a vehicle fire south of the town.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the area.

“The combinations of hot and dry conditions with increasing winds will create critical fire conditions,” the National Weather Service North Platte office wrote on Facebook.
