PLAINVIEW - From long touchdown runs and long bombs to trick plays and stellar special teams, nothing was going wrong for the Plainview Pirates on Thursday night's blowout of Lutheran High Northeast.

The Pirates, coming off a loss to top-ranked Stanton, was in need of a big bounce back on senior night. The 4-3 record that Plainview carried into Thursday's matchup was good enough to launch them back into the playoffs, thanks to their high power points.

But it was evident that the Pirates wanted MORE.

Enter, Lutheran High Northeast, a team that Plainview knows all too well. When the Eagles and Pirates meet, it's always a fun battle.

The Eagles entered Plainview with a 1-6 record, largely decimated by key injuries and a brutal schedule. Either way, LHNE always brings a tough mentality with them.

The Eagles started the ballgame with possession and after a quick 3 and out, Plainview's Jacson King threw a 24-yard halfback pass to Wyatt Schroth that allowed the Pirates to punch it in the endzone one play later. King's 5-yard touchdown run gave Plainview a 7-0 lead early.

After another stop, the Pirates next play was a 40-yard pass from Karter Lingenfelter to senior tight-end Corben Kment, who scored his first touchdown of the season on the catch and run.

The Eagles got into the redzone on the next drive, but were unable to capitalize. Plainview also had to punt the ball on the next possession, but a 44 yard punt by Kohen Lingenfelter backed up LHNE inside their own 5-yardline.

Eagle's quarterback Charlie Sullivan threw a pass incomplete, while in the endzone. It ended up being intentional grounding, giving the Pirates a safety.

With a 16-0 lead, Plainview once again moved the ball down the field, finishing off a good drive with Jacson King's second score of the game. A turnover would put the Pirates in position for a late touchdown by Karter Lingenfelter, resulting in a 31-0 score at halftime.

On the first play from scrimmage in the 3rd quarter, Jacson King completed the hat-trick with a 50-yard touchdown burst.

The Eagles again punted the ball back to the Pirates, where backup quarterback Collin Montgomery threw an interception to Jazee Aimes, who brought it back to the house on a 57-yard pick six.

On the ensuing kickoff, Colt Kromarek made an incredible move, shedding a sure tackle to return the kickoff 75-yards for a touchdown.

With a 45-8 lead, the Pirates would score their final touchdown on a 6-yard run by freshman Adryck Stewart.

The Eagles did punch in their only offensive touchdown late in the ball game via a 3 yard touchdown run by Charlie Sullivan.

With the 52-14 win, the Plainview Pirates jump to 5-3 and set themselves up for a top-8 seed in the Class D1 Playoffs. Meanwhile, the Lutheran High Northeast Eagles end their season with a 1-7 record.

Jacson King led the game with 165 all purpose yards, including 108 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns. Karter Lingenfelter threw for 127 yards on 7 of 12 passing with a touchdown.

The Eagles were led by Charlie Sullivan with 29 passing yards and 70 rushing yards, along with a touchdown. Jazee Aimes finished with 35 yards on 14 carries.
