GRAND ISLAND, Neb.- A local restaurant and brewery in Grand Island is closing its doors.

Kinkaider Brewing announced via a Facebook post that it will be closing its Grand Island location.  The Broken Bow-based business said the location presented certain challenges that “outweighed the potential upside”.

Cody Schmick, co-owner of Kinkaider’s Brewing Co., told our news partners KSNB Local 4 there were some facility challenges that they needed to work through before renewing their lease.

“In Nebraska there’s a five tap room rule that a brewers can have up to five retail licenses outside of the brewery,” he said. “Well we’re the only group that has maxed out in the state right now, we have tried to add more licenses to that but unfortunately, we have not been able to do that at the legislature yet. We’re still working towards that.”

Kinkaider will be open through Halloween. The company says it has a big announcement to reveal on Friday afternoon.
