NORFOLK - After falling to Crofton in the semifinals of the Mid-States Conference Tournament, the Norfolk Catholic Knights rallied back to defeat Battle Creek in straight sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) to claim third place in the conference.

The Knights held the #1 overall seed in the tournament before Crofton escaped with a 3-2 win on Tuesday night. Battle Creek entered the match as the #3 seed, losing to Pierce 3-1 in the semifinals.

The Knights and Bravettes traded punches in the opening set, both teams switching leads and taking the momentum.

Norfolk Catholic closed it out in the first set 25-22 to lead 1-0.

In the second set, the Knights jumped out ahead, led by powerful attacks from Sidonia Wattier and Anslee Watters. The Knights won set two 25-17.

The Bravettes managed to hold most of the lead in the third set as Jadyn Buckendahl picked up the heat on the outside.

Norfolk Catholic chipped away to take a late lead and hold on for the 25-21 win, finishing the sweep.

Norfolk Catholic's Sidonia Wattier led the match with 14 kills, followed by Anslee Waters with 12. Ava Wemhoff tallied 6 kills.

For Battle Creek, Jadyn Buckendahl notched 10 kills, with Sophie Humphrey picking up 6. Abbie Erickson and Karley Freudenburg each had 5 kills.
