Ferocious defense propels Gretna East girls to big road win at Hastings
HASTINGS, Neb. -- The Gretna East girls basketball team limited Hastings to just five made field goals on the way to a 56-15 win on Friday night.
The victory marked the fourth-straight win for the Griffins, who improved to 8-2 on the season. Hastings dropped to 3-6 with the loss.
Gretna East opened the game on a 13-2 run and didn't look back. The Griffins forced the Tigers into double-digit turnovers in the first half and turned their steals into fast break points. Gretna East went on a 23-point run through parts of the second and third quarters to put the game far out of reach.
Karli Williams paced the Griffins with 15 points, 13 coming in the first half, and nine players worked their way into the scorebook. Kenzie Nollette led the Tigers with six points and Pyper Witte provided a spark off the bench with five points.
