Red Raiders rout Platte Valley
SIDNEY – The Sidney Red Raiders rebounded from their first loss of the season on Friday with a resounding win over Platte Valley High School of Kersey Colorado at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility on Saturday. Alek Doty scored 13 of his game-high 32 points in the first quarter to propel Sidney to a 23-7 lead over the Broncos after the opening period.
Although Sidney’s scoring slowed in the second quarter, the Red Raiders held Platte Valley to just seven points to extend their advantage to 20 points heading into intermission, 34-14.
Sidney opened the second half stretching their lead to 40-16, their biggest of the night, before Platte Valley junior Regan Edstrom poured in eight third quarter points cut the Red Raider lead to 43-28 heading into the final stanza.
Doty combined with Landon Riddle to put the finishing touches on his night by scoring 16 of Sidney’s 18 fourth quarter points. Doty finished with 32 points while Landon Riddle chipped in 13 points. Regan Edstrom paced Platte Valley with 20 points while junior Rocco Minner added nine points. Sidney improves to 9-1 while Platte Valley falls to 2-6.
