HASTINGS, Neb. – Hastings Public Schools has named its new district Superintendent just one day after conducting final interviews. 

HPS announced Dr. Christopher Prososki as the district's Superintendent on Wednesday morning. 

Prososki comes to Hastings after serving as the Southern Public Schools (Blue Springs/Wymore) Superintendent since 2017, and was chosen over three other candidates Josh Cumpston, John Hauser, and Joél Ruybalid.

The district held final interviews with the four candidates on Monday and Tuesday. 

His appointment is pending the approval of the Hastings Public School Board at a special meeting on Thur. Feb. 6.

Prososki will succeed current HPS Superintendent Jeff Schneider, who is retiring after 31 years with the district, including the past six years as Superintendent.

According to a school news release, Prososki is expected to begin his new role on or around July 1.
