Omaha Concordia uses post play to beat Doniphan-Trumbull, advance to C-1 final
LINCOLN — Omaha Concordia used an advantage in the paint to pull away from Doniphan-Trumbull and beat the Cardinals 54-45 on Friday.
The victory places #3 Concordia in the Class C-1 championship game against #5 Ashland-Greenwood. The win also erases a streak of consecutive losses in the state semis and three semifinals losses in the last four years for the Mustangs.
#7 Doniphan-Trumbull was the aggressor to start the game. The Cardinals hit five of their first eight shots and built a 17-13 lead after one quarter. Concordia used a 10-0 run in the second quarter to four-point lead at halftime. They never relinquished the lead in the second half and made enough plays down the stretch to seal the win.
Concordia used its superior size to build the lead. The Mustangs outscored the Cardinals 34-16 in the paint and out-rebounded them 31-18.
