NEBRASKA CITY, NE - In a battle between the Auburn Bulldogs and Nebraska City Pioneers, it was all Nebraska City as they improved to 3-3 with a 10-0 run-rule win on Monday.

The game was scoreless for the first two innings as both starting pitchers, Jackson Warner for the Bulldogs and Landon Ferguson for the Pioneers, worked quickly and efficiently. Nebraska City got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the third thanks to a leadoff walk to Colton Gillespie and three consecutive hits from Jesus Martinez, Callen Schnitzer and James Fairbanks.

Ferguson continued to cruise on the mound as he worked a 1-2-3 fourth inning thanks to two more strikeouts. He finished with six. The Pioneer offense got back to work in the bottom of the fourth and scored three more runs, courtesy of three hits and two Auburn errors. That increased the Nebraska City lead to 6-0 after four innings.

Ferguson worked out of trouble in the top half of the fifth, and the Pioneers closed it out in the bottom of the frame with four more runs on three hits and an error.

The Bulldogs finished with one hit on the afternoon from Clayton Brown. Nebraska City was led by Colton Gillespie, who reached base in all three of his at-bats with a walk, hit by pitch and a double. James Fairbanks added two singles and Carter Hyle, Landon Ferguson and AJ Rautenbach each chipped in a hit apiece.

Nebraska City improved to 3-3 while Auburn dropped to 3-5. Both teams will be back in action Tuesday, as the Pioneers take on Wahoo/Bishop Neumann while Auburn faces off with East Atchison.
